For Giving - for Getting is the debut album from Elenium under their publication from Rage of Achilles. Elenium is made up of J on vocals, Tommi Leinonen (Lenni) on guitar, Johannes Salo on keys, Mikko Niemelä on drums, Kasperi Heikkinen on guitar, Tuomo Räisänen on bass. Since their formation in autumn 1995 there have been a few lineup changes, but in the end it seems to have been for the best.
The album is very melodious, with excellent chords and beats. The vocals are grunty (at times) but more often they flow with the feeling of someone who has a strong connection with their music. Everything is conveyed with so much emotion, making the tracks easy to lose yourself in. The guitars and drums are played at a frenzied pace, allowing the band to include massive solos.

I thought this album was excellent. Everything was so easy to listen to, and yet so metal. Elenium is sure to go far in their career. At times I was completely immersed in the music, at other times I was amusing myself over the lyrics. This is one of those CDs where you can let it play over and over again for weeks without getting bored of it. I definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys melodious metal.
