BW & BK

The Finns are quietly putting a life-extending twist to the lifespace
of melodic trash/death with a bunch of plucky bands rising up (comparisons with Rapture and Omnium Gatherum are inevitable - especially if you cross those with Opeth) Elenium are the latest, spicing their triumphant sound with whimsical eccentricity, namely proggy bits, tuneful power metal guitar solos (see ´To Aim And Miss´ or `For Me` for impressive musicality along then beyond an Yngwie axis), clean vocals, sensuous acoustic passages, and myriad old school keyboard sounds better dovetailed conceptually here than is the case with Kalmah.

There´s a palpable chemistry between the makers of all of the above, solidified by the Dark Tranquillity-like drumming of Mikko Niemela. Love the whole creative overabundance of the thing through, recalling the excitement inherent way back with early Lake Of Tears or Edge Of Sanity, which is about the time the members of this band started toiling in metal.
