Powerplay Magazine This is Elenium's third demo - where's the justice? This three-track recording is better than most stuff out there. Strongly and unashamedly influenced by Amorphis, these Finns covet some of the earlier style of their more accomplished countrymen, but mere clones they are not. Prog and classical influences are there in the complex guitar work, the keyboards are rich and emotive, and "Them Used Gods" is dripping with passion and inspiration throughout the three tracks "Demigodlike", "Outside View" and "Inbred Infinity". It is confident but not above itself, despite the fact the band clearly know how talented they are and (I reckon) really should be in better position. They have toured with the likes of Lullacry and Children Of Bodom, but it looks like bad luck and timing has been against them so far. Elenium could not be more Finnish if they tried, their heart is on their sleeve and this demo has better production values, cover art and content than many signed bands. 7/10 Vicky Anderson |
